Claudia Averyl DuBois passed away on Feb 15, 2018. She was born in Batavia, New York on Dec 31, 1946 and was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Audrey Cleveland and a son, Scott David DuBois.
She was a 1965 graduate of Oakfield High School and attended William Smith College in Geneva, New York.
Upon moving to The Villages in 2009 with her husband, Tom (Colonel USAF Retired), she quickly became known as “The Dutchess of Upper Kilmer”. This was due, in part, to her weekly informative and comical newsletters as well as her penchant for providing her famous chicken soup to any neighbor who came down with so much as a sniffle.
She was an active partner in Tom’s 30+ year Air Force career, serving, at one point, as President of the Malmstrom AFB Officers Wives’ Club. Their many travels took them twice to Germany, where Claudia’s passions were the German culture, beautiful landscape, food and sumptuous wines, not necessarily in that order. While in Germany, she was employed by Katie Wohlfart, known as “The Christmas Store”. There she developed an appreciation for the beautiful wood, glass and brass Christmas ornaments which adorned the family tree each year. She also had a love for, and large collection of, David Winter Cottages as well as paintings by Thomas Kinkade and several German artists. Perhaps her biggest passion was Florida State football; she was undeniably among their most enthusiastic (loudest) cheerleaders.
Among the countless things that will be missed dearly are her infectious laugh, quick wit, sharp mind, and heart of gold.
Claudia leaves behind her beloved husband; daughters Danielle Brazile of Peachtree City, GA, and Jennifer DuBois Jones of Crestview, FL; granddaughter, Sydney; grandsons, Collin and Grant; and an immeasurable number of friends whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Claudia’s name to the Community United Methodist Church food bank in Fruitland Park, FL.
