June 30, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 11, 1946, in Texarkana, Texas, to Albert and Maurine Bassett. Bill was a
life-long member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, graduated from St. Edward’s Catholic School,
and Texarkana College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. He retired from Sears with 15
years of service, then retired from Alcoa as production manager. He was a poultry farmer, and a
beef cattle producer. He loved farming, tending to his farm, and spending time at the family shop
working crossword puzzles and visiting with family in his favorite place.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Don Bassett; sister, Elsie Bassett Green; brother Jerry
Bassett; and his parents.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Bassett, of Genoa Arkansas, son and daughter in
law, Willie and Annette Bassett; daughter, Cathy Reeves; granddaughter Loren (Ethan)
Porterfield; granddaughter Jordan (Casey) Trexler; granddaughter Cassidy (Prestion) Kennedy;
grandson Hoyt (Danielle) Bassett; three great-grandchildren: Grace Porterfield, Eli Porterfield,
and Brighton Trexler; brother, Kevin (Laura) Bassett; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 5, 2024, at East Memorial Gardens,
Texarkana, Arkansas with Father William Burmester officiating. Service under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at East Funeral Home-Downtown.
