On January 10, 1948, Kathryn married the love of her life, Harold T. Rankin, and they made their home in Texarkana, Texas. Their lives were centered around raising their three daughters, Maevaughn, Beth, and Nelda. Harold and Kathryn were active members of Central Baptist Church, where they served faithfully. During this time, friendships were made which continued for the remainder of their lives.
In addition to being a homemaker, Kathryn was employed by General Telephone Company. After her retirement in 1986, she remained active by serving with the Rebecca Class, the Palm Tree Christians, and the Women's Missionary Auxiliary in her church. She was also a member of the American Diabetes Association and was a camp volunteer for the children's diabetic camp. Later she volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Samaritan Charities, and the A. E. Land Memorial Hospice. Kathryn had a servant's heart and loved meeting the needs of others.
When Kathryn was no longer able to live alone, she found a loving home at Sterling House in Texarkana, TX. She made many friends and found ways, even in her limited capacity, to be a blessing to others. She lived the last nine months of her life at Reunion Plaza, where again cherished friendships were made.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold T. Rankin, and two granddaughters, Janet Miller and Kayla Freeman.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Maevaughn Morris of New Boston, TX, Elizabeth and Ron Cleveland of Texarkana, AR and Nelda and Pat Richard of Redwater, TX; brother Henry Reed of Texarkana, TX; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jake and Janette Foster, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Nanci Wathen.
