John Matthew Gibson

Born on October 26, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas to Sam and Mildred Gibson.

He is preceded in death by this father, mother, and grandparents John and Alice Roberson.

John Matt was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder.

He was a member of the Arkansas High graduating class of 1956. He was in the car business for most of

his life and was a member of the Serenity Club and was a friend of Bill Wilson. He also served in the 49th

Division of the Army National Guard. He loved playing golf, shooting pool and cheering for the Arkansas

Razorbacks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rachel Gibson.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are 2 daughters,

Julie (Jeff) Calfee and Susan (Terry) Dellinger; seven grandchildren, Lyndsey (Marshall) Craig, Taylor

Calfee, Hope Taylor, Tyler Willett, Jake (Nikki) Willett, Allie Dellinger and Kayden Calfee; and three great

grandchildren, Coleman Craig, Woodson Craig, and Parker Willett.

He leaves behind many other loved ones, family and friends. One special friend, LaKeitha Walker.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at

Northwood Presbyterian Church, 5800 Richmond Road, Texarkana, Texas.

Visitation will be held at the church at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Graveside services will be held privately at a later date.
