James Lawson Brewer, III "Jay", went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Jay was born November 7, 1967, in Texarkana, Texas, to James L. Brewer, Jr. and Marjorie Ann Brewer. He was a graduate of Arkansas High School and Henderson State University. He started his career as an assistant Golf Pro for Art Romero and Texarkana County Club for 18 years. After leaving Texarkana Country Club, he went to work for Barry Norton and Texarkana Independent School District where he coached high school golf teams and taught middle school golf classes. He was proud to be a PGA member for 25 years as well as a member of the Texas Coaches Association. He adored each and every child as though they were his own and didn't mind correcting them for giving anything less than their best. He played golf with his golf buddies as often as he could and enjoyed the camaraderie with every one of them. He loved fishing and it wasn't unusual for him to be found fishing the local TCC pond every chance he got. He loved everything Razorback. You could not find any as devoted to his Hogs as he was.
He adored his fur babies: Maddie, Chloe, Faith and Emi (as well as Emily and Tate who are with him now in heaven).
He is preceded in death by his father, James L. Brewer, Jr. "J.L"; grandfather, Jack Otwell; grandparents, Lawson and Sybil Brewer; great grandparents, Belton and Dora Otwell; James F. and Gertrude Martindale; father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Virginia Johnson, Sr. and brother-in-law John T. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa; his mother, Marjorie Ann Brewer; his grandmother, Dorothy "GM" Otwell; sister-in-laws and spouse, Melinda and Shawn Knoche, Glenda Long, and Sherry Allen; brother-in-law and spouse, Charles and Floretta Johnson; special Aunt, Evelyn Scott; special cousin, John Scott; and a host of other aunts, cousins and countless friends.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens - South Pavilion with Rev. Jaimie Alexander officiating. Services are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
