Fred Roland Borum

Fred R. Borum, age 84, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Mr. Borum was born on August 7, 1940 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Sammie of 64 years, and his family, teaching bridge & Sunday school class, and playing golf.

Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Freda Borum, and his sister, Alberta Jeffery.

Mr. Borum grew up attending First Baptist Church of Muskogee. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics and a MBA while studying at Oklahoma State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve for six years. In 1969, he was employed by Cordell National Bank and was in the banking industry for 15 years. In 1974, he obtained a private pilot license. He was a small business owner for 13 years and at the age of 54, he returned to school to fulfill his goal of becoming a teacher. He obtained a master's degrees in education and a master's degree in computer science while studying at University of Central Oklahoma. He was also a life master in bridge.

Survived by his wife Sammie Borum; son Doug and wife Donya Borum and daughter Parkie and husband Eric Soule; granddaughter, Kelsie and husband William Cigainero; and one great grandchild, Jase Cigainero.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am September 24, 2024 at East Memorial Chapel-Moores Lane with Eric Chaffin officiating. Fred will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering faith, and the deep love for his wife and his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
