Ella Jacqueline Wright

Ella Jacqueline Austin Wright of Texarkana, Texas passed away on April 13, 2023 at Reunion Plaza Nursing home following a long illness. She was born in Hot Springs AR on February 7, 1936. Ella was the youngest daughter of the late Theodore Raymond Austin and Edith Marral Austin (Lynchard). Her husband, James Curtis Wright, preceded her in death on December 27, 1996.

Mrs. Wright had several occupations in her life. She was a carhop at Steak and Shake, a cobbler at Munro shoes in Hot Springs, a housewife and homemaker. She returned to work having obtained her GED, at Liberty Eylau High School in the cafeteria. This is the job she loved most, she prepared breakfast and lunch for young minds at LEHS and the Bowie County Juvenile Detention Center. This was an opportunity to show God’s love to many who needed it. Ella loved to grow her own food, cook it, can it, serve it and serve others. You would be blessed to sit at her table. She was a talented seamstress, making clothing and costumes for her family and friends. Loss of sight was her only deterrent. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a Fierce Prayer Warrior. She finished her fight as a member of Mercy Ministries of Texarkana, AR. She loved her family and if you met her, you were family.

She is survived by her children, Martha Morrison and Larry, Albuquerque, NM; Bryan Murray and Karen, Mesquite, TX; Edith Thomas and Bobby, Simms, TX; Katherine Berry, Texarkana, TX, James Wright, Texarkana, TX; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be at East Funeral Home, 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas 75503 on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral services will be held at 10AM, April 22, 2023 at East Memorial Chapel with Rev. Boyd Hale officiating. Private burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
