Robert Gene (Bob) Peterson passed away on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at his home in Terrell Texas from complications associated with lung cancer. Betty, his wife of sixty years, was at his side as he passed. Bob was born May 2nd, 1933 in McCanna North Dakota to Dora Dau and Carl Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Carla Peterson Bakemeyer. In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by their two sons, James R. Peterson of Allen Texas, and Alan L. Peterson of Wright City Missouri. Other surviving family members are four grandchildren, Natalie Prebianca (Nick), Joshua Peterson (Casey), Meredith Allen, Derek Peterson (Maggie); four great grandchildren, Gabriel Allen, Drew Prebianca, Isabella Peterson, Sara Peterson; two step great grandchildren Dylan Tyler, and Joseph Lawson; as well as his brother-in-law, Bill Bakemeyer, sister-in-law, Billie McCoy, one aunt Betty Anderson, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob proudly served as a officer in the United States Air Force as well as the Texas Air National Guard and US Air Force Reserve. After his time in service Bob attended the University of North Dakota. He graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Bob went on to have a successful thirty year career with E-Systems in Greenville Texas. Following his retirement he and Betty enjoyed traveling together, spending time at the family homestead in North Dakota, pursuing his hobby of master woodworking, and spending quality time with his family. Prior to his death, Bob expressed his gratitude for the wonderful life he had enjoyed and said that he had accomplished all the dreams and goals he had in life. As a young boy during World War II he dreamed of one day flying in the US Air Force, a dream that he fulfilled. He had a goal of graduating college with a degree in Electrical Engineering then follow a career in the aviation industry, a goal he accomplished with great distinction. He expressed his greatest dream was to share life with a loving wife and raise a family he could be proud of. This dream was indeed a reality come true for him. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday, November 16th, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell Texas. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00am followed by funeral Services at 10:30am. Burial services at the DFW National Cemetery is at 2:00pm.
