Carol Mary Krause Roark, 72, passed away Aug. 21, 2015 in Forney. She was born Sept. 16, 1942 in Houston, TX to Benny and Gladys Krause, both of whom preceded her in death along with her husband, Kenneth Roark. Carol was a devoted and caring servant to others for all of her life. She attended Sam Houston State University, after which she began a career as a teacher. Soon, she and her husband, Kenneth started their own family with their two sons and Carol then devoted her time and energy to being the best teacher and coach to not only her sons but to all who had the priceless gift of her friendship. Anytime she could, Carol made sure to teach her sons a variety of life lessons enabling them to grow into men of honesty, integrity and character. She had a wonderful and abiding faith in her Savior, Jesus, and was an active and longtime member of several Lutheran churches including Holy Cross Lutheran in Austin, Faith Lutheran in Dickinson, TX and, most recently, Our Savior Lutheran in Mesquite. While in Austin, Carol worked with Dell and enjoyed very much the technology industry giving her and her sons another element in common to talk about. She was a survivor of breast cancer and her diagnosis and treatment never stopped her from enjoying God’s creation and the people He blessed her to know. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and teaching Bible studies which all reflect her selfless nature in putting others before herself. Her self-sacrificing, and tireless, example of generosity to all she met are the standards of excellence that will be both a celebrated memory and continuing heritage of Carol’s life. A wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Carol will be always loved and never forgotten. Those left to celebrate Carol’s legacy are her sons: Marcus Roark and wife, Lisa, of West Hills, CA, Micah Roark and fiancée, Krista Stroud, of Port Hueneme, CA; precious grandchildren: Zane Maddox, Shade and Samantha McCullough; brother, Donald Krause and wife, Debbie of Houston; sister, Virginia Rogers of Forney; nieces and nephews: Emilye and Lindsie Krause, Regina Williamson and husband, Jim, Jason Rogers and wife, Shelli; great-nieces and –nephews: Charlie and Amelia Krause, Macy Williamson, Camron and Sydney Rogers as well as several other extended family members and a host of friends. Funeral will be at 7:00pm, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel. Interment will be at 1:00pm, Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 411 N. Town East Blvd, Mesquite, TX, 75150 or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure at ww5.komen.org.
