Donald is survived by his three daughters, Marla Kempf (Rodney) of Terre Haute, Darla Daniels (Delmas) of Clinton, and Carla Rinehart (Darren) of Clinton; grandchildren, Sean (AJ), Mike, Zac (Kat), Domenic (Brittany), Allyson (Jeff), Bryant, Taylor (Phill); great-grandchildren, Braxton, Callan, Deider, Ledger, Raylan, Carmella, Monty, and Lila; siblings, Pat Vandivier (John), Larry Judson (Barb), Bob Judson (Karen), and Barb Hogue (Chuck); two very special friends, Mark Ragland and Faron Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie Judson; and a brother, Ed Judson.
Donald attended Purdue University as an English major. He then began working at Anaconda before starting his career in the coal mines. Donald retired as an underground mine electrician for Ziegler in Southern Illinois after many years of dedicated service.
A man who embraced new technology, eventually, with coaxing from his daughters. He began every day by sending “Good morning, I love you” texts to his three girls, as well as other friends and family. Donald loved to eat and enjoyed getting new recipes from the Cooking Channel and HGTV. He also loved online shopping and adding to his gadget collection. He enjoyed reading and learning new things, and was a self-described “Ford man.” Donald never knew a stranger. He was known for being stubborn, determined, and independent – traits that kept him going all these years. He will be truly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 13 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Per his wishes, cremation will take place and Donald will be laid to rest with his wife, Marjorie, at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park.
