Betty went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2024. She was born on November 20, 1946 to Bert Marion Long and Lois Irene (Gambill) Long.
She graduated from Wiley High School in May 1964. She was employed by Columbia House in Terre Haute, General Motors and K-Mart Corporation in Michigan, Travelers, The Hartford and The Aetna in Connecticut, and eventually retired from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a Senior Systems Analyst.
She participated in many volunteer positions, including cooking at Camp Wabashi, MADD, CASA, the last being Kids Hope at Dixie Bee Elementary. She enjoyed assisting in her daughter's kindergarten class at Sugar Grove, where she loved being with the children. Her favorite time was then spent watching her precious grandson, Micah.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Janette (Mike) Clutter, Brian (Lynneie Decker) Newlin, and Ashley (Eric) Brown; grandchildren, Jeff (Sarah) Clutter, Christopher (Jessica) Clutter, Sierra (Robert) Sosbe, Makayla (Drew) Dransfield, Taylor (Glenn) Hermann, Grant Brown, and Micah Brown; great-grandchildren, Jamie Decker, Reed Clutter, Raven Sosbe, Leia Clutter, Mercer Clutter, Wade Clutter, Asher Clutter, Jasper Sosbe, Nash Sosbe, Maverick Sosbe, and soon-to-be Atticus Dransfield. She is also survived by a brother Larry Long and a sister Carolyn Fischer; nephews, Brad (Amy) Byers, Jeff Cox, Darren (Kristen) Byers, and a beloved niece Debi (Bret) Rauscher, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind her dearest friends, Tom and Angela (Honorary Sister) McDonald and MaryAlice Fleschner (Honorary Mother).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Janice Cox, brother-in-law James Cox, sister-in-law Debbie Long, her dear friend Gracie Strole, and special young man and honorary son Dylan Lofton, and her beloved dogs Barrister and Twilight.
A special thank you to Dr. Abyhanker and Nurse John and Hospice of the Wabash Valley for their dedication and service to her, her family, and the community.
Services will be at Roselawn Funeral Home on Friday October 18,2024 with visitation from 11AM to 2PM prior to service. Pastor Rich Winson will perform ceremony.
