Sandra Lynn Dillon Nelson,”Sandy” or ”Pootie”, 74 of Hutto, Texas died on June 27, 2024 at a Temple hospital. Sandy was born on July 14, 1949 in Caddo Mills, TX to Iva and Cecil Dillon. She was the youngest of five children.
She graduated from Farmersville High School in 1968. She married James Sergent in 1968 and they had three children together before they divorced. In 1977 she married Harold “Hal” Nelson and they were married forty-one years. She met Hal while working at Fairchild in Palo Alto, CA. She also worked at AMD in Santa Clara, CA. She was known for being the life of the party at work and for company events. In 1992 Sandy and Hal picked up and moved to Austin, Texas where they managed South Congress Storage until 2017.
Sandy had a love for animals her entire life. Her father started her out small with a horse named Whiskers. Throughout her life she rescued many dogs and cats and gave them a forever home.
She could probably easily be the world record holder for owning the most Snoopy memorabilia including two 6 foot stuffed Snoopys and hundreds of 12 inch in every outfit imaginable. The pride of her collection was the McDonalds Snoopy toys her grandson acquired for her.
She is survived by her children Byronne Sergent and Eric Sergent both of Orlando, FL, Kenneth Sergent and wife Susan of Hutto, TX, grandchildren Chad Bakker and Dillon Sergent of Hutto, TX, sister Carrie Anne Dillon-Phillips of Arlington, TX and brother Jerry Dillon of Sunnyvale, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Hal” Nelson, parents Iva And Cecil Dillon, and brothers Morris Dillon and W.A Dillon.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 3 at noon at the residence of Kenn and Susan Sergent in Hutto, TX.
