Ruth H. Hill

Ruth Hester Hill, 93, of Temple, Texas, passed away on June 4, 2024. Visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd, Temple, Texas. A graveside service will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Moody Cemetery, 1502 S. Lonestar Parkway, Moody, TX.

Ruth was born September 5,1930 in Union City, New Jersey, to John Franklin Respass and Emma Ramsey Respass. Ruth was one of fifteen children, growing up between New Jersey and Manhattan. She worked as an executive secretary, first, to help support her family, and again after her marriage at 18, to Sherwin Turner. The Turners worked in church ministry until he lost his battle with cancer in 1979. Ruth work for four more years, until she met and married Robert Hill from Moody, Texas, who had lost his spouse to cancer. They worked an additional 31 years in the ministry, pastoring churches in Moody and Troy, Texas, before retiring. Ruth’s life was not always easy, having grown up during the depression into a large family, and losing two husbands to devastating diseases. But through all the trials of life, her trust and faith in her Savior never wavered. James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her fourteen siblings, her husband the Rev Robert Arthur Hill, her stepson Robert Michael Hill, and her step-grandson, Joshua Luke Bingham. She is survived by stepchildren, Debra and Morris Poe of Round Rock, Nancy Hill of Round Rock, Diane and Ty Smith of Belton, Mark and Donna Hill of Temple, numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
