Our beloved Father and Pawpaw, Robert Ray Scott, age 75, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 after a short illness. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at First Church of the Nazarene in Temple with Rev. Mike Page officiating assisted by Rev. Kevin Bell, Rev. Tommy Davis, and Rev. Jerry McGuire. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Bob was born August 10, 1937 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Raymond Scott and Duel Hatley Scott. After graduating high school he attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma where he graduated with a business/accounting degree. He had been a resident of Temple since 1958. He worked in the construction industry his whole life, whether as an accountant, estimator, or project manager. The past 19 years he oversaw numerous multi-million dollar projects. In his spare time he and Dena were the youth pastors at South Manor Church of the Nazarene in Waco in the late 1960's to early 1970's. During that time they mentored teens thru discipleship and a youth choir. Bob loved life. He loved the people with whom he worked and was well respected by all. As his boss said, "The day began and ended with Bob." He was a vital part of the company. Wildcat sports were his hobby, especially Friday night football. Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream was part of his nightly menu. He loved the annual family trips to Colorado and traveling with his wife. Bob and Dena made everyone feel like family and their door was always open. His family was of utmost importance and he always put others before himself. He was Pawpaw to many kids besides his own. Being a pawpaw was his highest priority and greatest joy. He was raised in the Nazarene Church where he was a member his entire life. Bob currently attended Belton Nazarene Church where he has served as greeter and usher. On July 25, 1959 he married Geraldine "Dena" Hubbard in Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. Survivors include his one son, Robert "Robin" Scott, Jr. of College Station and his children Kiley, Trip and Kennedy. He also has two daughters, Tammy Danette and her husband Todd Bailey of Temple and their children Christopher, Lauren and Hunter and Marci Lee and her husband Sid Byler of Belton and their children Sidney and Shelby. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Jo VanDyne and her husband Glenn. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
