Jesus Manuel Mendoza

Jesus (Jesse) Mendoza beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend went home to be with God at the age of 63 at his residence. Jesse was born April 27, 1957 in El Paso, the son of Jesus Maria Mendoza and Gloria Elena Matamoros. Jesse attended Temple College and received and Associates Degree in Computer Science. He was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital since December 10, 1979. He started working at the VA as an X-Ray Technician working in the darkroom and later transferred to the Engineer Department as a program clerk. He was very proud of his job. His greatest loves were for God, his family, and his guide dogs whom were his constant companions. He was a member of Church of Christ and was a man of Faith and raised his kids to love God. Jesse had an ever-present smile and his sense of humor and love for God made him much beloved by those who knew him. His unconditional love and acceptance of others will forever be remembered.

Mr. Mendoza was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucy Vasquez, and guide dog, Toronto. Jesse is survived by his one son, Jody Mendoza and one daughter, Jessica Mendoza both of Temple, his sisters, Dolores Mendoza and Veronica Mendoza both of Minneapolis, MN and brothers, Jose Mercado of Cameron and Obdulio Mercado of Temple, grandchildren, Brittaney Mendoza and Jody Mendoza Jr. of Austin, Selena Mendoza, Sariah Mendoza, Joe Anthony Ramirez, Rayna Ramirez, and Leah Ramirez all of Temple, Noah Mendoza and Aaliyah Mendoza both of Taylor, four great-grandchildren, Madison, Gabriel, Nevaeh, and Reign and his guide dog, France.

Services for Jesus (Jesse) Mendoza will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 18th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 17th at the funeral home.
