Carolyn S. Fields, age 86 of Temple, traveled to her heavenly home to meet her Lord and her husband, Louis, January 1, 2016. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 6th at Grace Presbyterian Church with Revs. Thom Lamb and Leigh Benish officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 5th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Fields was born November 20, 1929 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA to Pauline and Cecil Gibson and was sister to Cecil Gibson Jr. who preceded her in death. She attended Alice Robertson Jr. High and Muskogee High School in Muskogee. Carolyn graduated and then attended North Eastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Mrs. Fields transferred to Scott & White School of Medical Technology and received her Diploma in 1950. While in school, she married her husband Louis Fields of Ashland, Kentucky after meeting him on a blind date. They were married 65 years. Carolyn traveled as a military wife to Germany, France, Italy and many states within the United States, but always came back to Temple. She was a Registered Medical Technologist with Scott & White Hospital for 33 years retiring in 1992. She was a member and served as an Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple as well as held membership for over 50 years in Vashti Chapter #32, Order of the Eastern Star of which she was a past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Temple City Federation of Women’s Clubs of which she was a past president and Board Member, Blue Bonnet Club member, Past President of Temple Garden Club, Past Presidents Club member and officer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis and her son, Gary. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela and son, Michael, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
