Memorial services for Bryan William Swaim, 87, of Bryan will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Gary Smith officiating. Mr. Swaim died Friday in a Bryan Living Center. Mr. Swaim was born in Bell County to John Alec Swaim and Alice Lucille McDonnald Swaim. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Geraldine Jones May 21, 1946. He earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Texas A & M. He worked for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service for 32 years having been the County Agent in various counties and was the District Extension agent for District 10. He was also the International Ag Program Coordinator for Texas A & M University. He received the TCAA and NCAA Distinguished Service Award in 1965, was a Member of Board of Director TCAA, member of Texas Agricultural Workers Association, member of Epsilm Sigma Phy and lifetime member of TCAA. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bryan and was a Mason. Mr. Swaim was preceded in death by one son Billy Bob Swaim in 2011. Survivors include his wife Geraldine Swaim of Bryan; one daughter Lana Swaim Speck and her husband Scott of San Antonio; one brother Royce Swaim and his wife Wyanell of Temple and five grandchildren Bryan Speck, William Speck, Lindsay Speck, Ami Swaim Marino and Jeffrey Swain; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice or to American Cancer Society. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
