Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Thomas; his devoted children and their spouses, David and Nadine Thomas of Tampa, Florida; Mark and Cheryl Thomas of Dover, Florida; and Julie and Cliff Moye of Mansfield, Texas; and six cherished grandchildren, David Thomas, Jr., Jessica Schott, Allison Stone, Lauren Moye, Ethan Moye and Regan Moye.
The youngest of four children, Tom was born on October 17, 1926, in Massillon, Ohio, to Anna Lorenz and Henry Fenske. He married Jean (Johnson) on February 19, 1955, at Christ the King Catholic Church. They moved to Temple Terrace in 1956, where they raised their three children. Tom was a volunteer firefighter, a charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He worked for CSX Railroad for 42 and a half years, retiring as Assistant Manager of Rockport Terminal. He and his sister, Irma, also owned and managed Manor Sodas and Sundries in Tampa. After retiring from the railroad, Tom volunteered 18 years at the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Tom will be remembered for his devotion to God, love for his family and friends and service to his community.
The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, January 19, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Funeral Home, 12690 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL, 33617. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9715 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL, 33617.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Tampa, Scottish Rite Hospital, Dallas, or St. Vincent de Paul.
