Jacqueline (Jacquie) Fosdick Bronson, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at home in Tampa. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Edwin and Emma (Hill) Fosdick, Jacquie moved to Florida in 1931. During her youth, she lived in several central Florida towns, including Windermere, where she met her husband, William. She was a graduate of Fort Pierce High School, Florida State University (1948), Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (1951), and University of South Florida (M.Ed. 1983). In 1951, Jacquie and her husband moved to New Jersey, where she worked as a Registered Nurse while raising her family. She was a Nursing Instructor at Clara Maass Hospital School of Nursing, Belleville NJ, from 1971 to 1974. In early 1975 she moved to Temple Terrace FL, and taught nursing at Hillsborough Community College until her retirement in 1990. Jacquie enjoyed and supported the performing arts, singing for many years in her church choir, with her husband as part of The Monday Night Singers, and as part of Sugartime Singers in Temple Terrace. Retirement gave her opportunities to serve as an usher at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, travel on Elder Hostel adventures around the world, sail to Key West and the Bahamas, and visit family throughout the United States. She was a member of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, the Clarion Society of USF, and P.E.O. International. Well known as a warm, caring, and fun person, Jacquie developed many close friendships. She was always willing to open her home to relatives and friends needing a temporary place to stay. She hosted many large gatherings, including “Family Musicales" to celebrate reunions and notable birthdays. She also supported friends and family during times of stress and sorrow. In spite of her advancing age, she spent three months in Atlanta caring for her niece, Lisa Fosdick Biggers, during the final stage of her life, and was an important and supportive part of the family team caring for her beloved brother-in-law, sailing skipper, and piano-duet partner, Jimmie McKey, in his last years. Jacquie was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 19 years, William Earnest Bronson, in 1970; sisters Frances McKey and Annette Buky; and brother Edwin Fosdick. She is survived by a sister, Lou Leach, of Orlando; sons Robert and his wife Judy, of Kenmore WA, Stephen, of Port Richey, John and his wife Kathy, of Umatilla, and Joel and his wife Dona, of Land O Lakes; daughters Peggy Gardner, of Branchville NJ, and Mary Grace Bronson and her husband Lloyd Goldstein, of Tampa, with whom she resided; grandchildren Dan Gardner, Carly Bronson, Casey Gardner Luizzi, Christine Bronson Fisk, Carole, Cathy, and Sam Bronson, Nicholas and Alyssa Bronson, and Dona McDonald; two great-grandsons; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
