Hugo Rodrigo Zurita, age 62, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. He was born in Malchingui Pichincha, Ecuador. Hugo was a proud retired Staff Sergeant with the United States Army and a devout Roman Catholic.
Hugo was preceded in death by his mother Maria Eugenia Nicolalde; his aunt Alicia Manosalvas, and his aunt Carlota Zurita.
Hugo is survived by his daughter Irenie Maria Zurita Glover (Stephen J. Glover); his father Gabriel Oswaldo Zurita (Lillian M. Zurita); his brothers Steven Zurita (Meiling Zurita) and Remigio Nicolalde; his sister Karim I. Zurita; his granddaughters Elena Grace L. Glover and Anna Maria A. Glover; his nephews Marcus Zurita and Miles Zurita; and by his many relatives, coworkers, and friends, including his “brother” Wuascar.
A beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grampi, baba Hujo, and friend – Hugo’s hospitality and quiet generosity befriended family and friends alike. We remember and treasure his love of his native Ecuador and his service to the United States. We will always miss his smile and zest for life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Hugo’s name to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. The family thanks the dedicated team members who loved and cared for him during his brave battle.
