Glenn Edward McRae

Glenn died peacefully on December 15, 2021, at the age of 86 in Tampa. He is predeceased by his father, Eddie J. McRae; mother, Jettie Thomas McRae; and his brother Kenneth McRae (Ken England). Glenn is survived by his children Sheryl McRae Cornell (Doug), Danny McRae (Allison), and Chris McRae (Alisa); four grandchildren Amanda, Alex, Glenn and Madeline; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. A niece Melissa Hall and great nephew Thomas Hall.

Born during the Great Depression, Glenn spent much of his early years being raised by his grandparents on their farm while his mother worked at the Have-A-Tampa Cigar factory. He attended Jackson Heights Elementary, Thonotosassa Elementary, Franklin Junior High School and Brandon Senior High School. Glenn lived most of his life in Branchton, Florida.

For 35 years Glenn worked for Schlitz Brewery (later Stroh’s and Yuengling). He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local 925. Throughout much of his career he served as Union Shop Steward, participating in arbitration on behalf of his Union brothers. This was an achievement he was very proud of. Glenn loved horses, dancing, fast cars, pretty ladies (all called darlin’), and most of all, his children and grandchildren. He had a quick wit and was there time and again when his friends and family needed him.

Services will be held on December 30, 2021, at Terrace Oaks Funeral Home, 12690 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, Florida, 33617. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon with a service to follow at 1:00 pm. Pastor James Brady officiating.
