He served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army on the front lines of Korea. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1958 and was employed as an Ironworker by trade and was a member of Ironworker's Local 397 for over 65 years. He was also a faithful member of Hillsborough United Methodist Church for over 65 years. He was a member of Brandon Masonic Lodge for over 60 years.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George and James Alves; and his sister, Carmen Machado.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Sara Alves; daughter, Sheron Alves Bass; and grandson, Arthur Edmond Alves, II.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by a reception from 12 pm to 1 pm and a funeral service beginning at 1pm at Hillsborough United Methodist Church, 9008 Harney Road, Tampa, Florida. Committal Service with military honors at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hillsborough United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Arthur Edmond Alves.
