Albert "Al" Brown faded away on December 8, 2018 at the age of 94. He served two years overseas with the 3Rd Infantry Division in Europe during WWII. Later he was called to active duty during the Korean War.
Al was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Bonniger Brown, and by his son, Douglas Brown. He is survived by a daughter, Debra Weeks (Doug), four grandchildren from his first marriage, a sister, Trudy Buckwalter, and nephews and nieces by the dozen.
Al is survived by his second wife of 33 years, JoAnn Spear-Brown, and her three children, Todd Spear (Donna), Sharon Bartels (John), Judy Skypack (Mike) and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Al was the fifth of six children. The six of them grew up in Bay County, Florida, running wild and free in a land without fences and almost no paved roads. The Model T Ford was the car of choice. Not all homes had electricity, kerosene lamps were plentiful and telephones were a novelty. Those were the days of baths on Saturday night in galvanized wash tubs.
Al spent most of his adult life in Temple Terrace. He and his wife JoAnn are long-time members of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, and always grateful for their church family.
Al Brown’s funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 13 at Temple Terrace UMC, with visitation to be held at 2:00. The burial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 14 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Terrace United Methodist Church or to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
