Barbara Joan Chittum

She was a member of Chittum’s Chapel Baptist Church.

She was a loving mother, nannie, sister and friend. She worked as health coordinator for Clinch-Powell Head start for 18 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chittum, Jr; son, Johnny Michael Chittum; father, James Hubert Duncan; mother, Thelma Lorene Baldwin Duncan; father and mother-in-law, Frank Chittum, Sr. and Lillie Mae Chittum Hettinghouse; brothers, David M. Duncan and Randy Duncan; sister, and brothers-in-law, James (Tim) Smith, William (Bill ) & Kathryn Chittum, Nettie & Warren Ramsey and Ethel & Bob Daughtery.

Survived by her son: Jeffrey “Scrubb” Chittum of New Tazewell, TN.

Daughter, Melissa (Noble) Short of Tazewell, TN.

The family will receive friends from 4-7PM Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell with funeral service to follow at 7:00PM with Rev. Jakie Cunningham and Matthew Brooks officiating. Singers will be the Chittum’s Chapel Church Singers.

Graveside service will be at 11:00am Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Sam Duncan, Kent Duncan, Jim Smith, Mike Smith, Gary Shockley, and family friends, Mike Arnold and Mike Campbell.
