James “Jim” Monroe Townsley, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Round Rock, Texas. Born on December 27, 1927 in Austin, Texas to Milas Scott and Hattie Mae (Evans) Townsley. He was the second of six children. On October 11, 1947, Jim married the love of his life, Lelia Louise Yett. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and four daughters.
Jim was a master craftsman in the Central Texas area, building many beautiful custom rock homes. He was well-known for his custom fireplaces and barbeque pits. Jim also taught building trades at Granger High School for three years. Jim learned to play the guitar at a very young age and was an accomplished gospel musician and singer. He never met a stranger and was a friend to anyone in need. Jim was an ordained minister and was passionate about winning souls for the Lord. Even in his later years, Jim evangelized by passing out gospel tracts, in English and Spanish. He loved to preach. He was an avid reader of his Bible and Smith Wigglesworth. Jim was involved with prison ministries in the Texas prison system.

Jim was very much loved by his family and is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lelia Louise Townsley. His four daughters and their husbands: Diane and Jim Hardy, Debbie and Larry Schuessler, Donna and Philip Bonner, Denise and Lester Johnson, Jr.
Grandchildren: Ross Hardy, Dennis and Christie Schuessler, Darren Schuessler, Dana Dehart and Robert Mumm, Stewart and Ann Bonner, Matt and Beth DeVille, Crystal and Wade Williams, Karen and Jason Averett
Great-Grandchildren: Ethan Schuessler, Marissa Schuessler, Madison Schuessler, Alex Griffin, Haley Griffin, Wyatt Mumm, Brooks Bonner, Sutton Bonner, Shaw Bonner, Drew DeVille, Jake DeVille, Travis Williams, Blake Williams, Lelia Schoenfeldt, Madeline Martin, Cameron Averett, Joel Averett
Jim loved his many nieces and nephews and dear friends and he was well loved in return.

A visitation will be on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 5:00pm at the Condra Funeral Home, 503 Talbot St., Taylor, Texas. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be on September 12, 2016 at 10:00am at the Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Interment will be at 1:00pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
