William Michael Thompson

William “Billy” Michael Thompson (1957-2024), originally from Youngstown, OH peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord surrounded by his family on August 8, 2024. Our incredible, joyful, loving, amazing husband/father/Papa/friend is no longer suffering in his body.

Billy was a very special man, a saint walking among us. His granddaughter responded after hearing the news of his passing, that if her Papa does not get welcomed into Heaven, then she’s not sure who would. The man loved his family deeply and devoted himself fully to his wife of 42 years, Rita. Along with the marriage, came two small children that Billy raised as his very own. He was not just a stepfather, but an involved dad who supported, encouraged, and loved his two boys, Glen and John. Billy worked at the same job for over forty years before retiring just a few months ago. He and Rita were planning to travel to Niagara Falls, Alaska, and a road trip to visit family in Ohio. His journeys on this Earth were cut short, but his spirit and love will live on for generations to come. We were all so blessed to have had him in our lives and we learned great lessons of humility, sacrifice and unbounded love from this man. We will deeply miss his quiet but immense presence – the world will never be the same. Billy enjoyed fishing, golf, vacationing, tinkering around the house, and spending time with his wife. He found the joy in all things he did, both large and small. This life is precious, so take the trip you have been dreaming up, eat at the restaurant that you have been thinking about, and spend time with those you love. Each time you experience joy in your heart, Billy’s presence will be felt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosella and Albert Thompson, his siblings, Cheri Thompson Pritts and Gary Thompson and nephew Shannon Pritts. He leaves behind the love of his life, Rita Thompson; stepsons Glen (Jennifer) Watkins and John (Teresa) Watkins; grandchildren Jack (18), Sarah (16), Ryan (14), Luke (13), Alex (4) and Eric (4) Watkins; siblings Donna Thompson, Patricia Thompson Bentsen and Daniel Thompson, nieces Sharla Haun, Tisha Pritts, Tracy Thompson, Jennifer Kuykendall; nephews Michael Spak, Edward Spak, Jeffrey Barnes, Greg Barnes, Gary Thompson Jr.

Please join us at Christ the King Catholic Church at 12:00 pm on August 24, 2024 for a memorial mass to celebrate Billy with a reception to follow.
