William H. Slocum

William is survived by his wife of 48 years Lauralee (Sengers) Slocum; His daughter Julianne (Kenneth) Sutton and their children Adele and Addison of Denver Colorado/St. Petersburg Florida. His daughter Shannon Mathews and her sons Landon and William of Tampa, Florida. His son Jason (Becky) Slocum and their daughter Hazel of Tampa Florida. His sister Kay (Gary) Diltz their daughter Jenny (Andy). His brother Randy (Shelley) Slocum of Tucson Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents Thelma and James Slocum of Burbank California.

William was born on October 6, 1946 in Burbank California to Thelma and James Slocum. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1964 where he played the trumpet in the band. He followed in his fathers footsteps first working for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and then following him to Disney in Burbank California in 1969. A move that would allow him to work his way up with the Walt Disney Company from Department Clerk in the Burbank Data Processing Department (read Glorified Gopher) to Director of Global Data Delivery in Orlando. Williams’ work with Disney spanned over 38 years filled with lots of late nights, big projects and lots of Disney magic. William happily retired in 2007 and continued to enjoy the parks with his family.

William was the father to three amazing children who benefited from the guidance and love of a hard working, dedicated father. His grandchildren filled his days during retirement and it was safe to say he loved being their Papa more than anything in the world.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday September 4th from 2-5pm at Blount & Curry (605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa FL 33609). Friends and family are encouraged to come by during that time to raise a glass and toast a life well lived. The family would like to thank Lifepath Hospice of Tampa Bay and the caregivers from Home Instead for their loving care of William.
