Thomas Butler Reed

Thomas Butler Reed, 81, was born April 6, 1939 to Miles and Margaret Reed in Ridgely, Maryland and passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Tom grew up on a farm outside of Denton, Maryland and graduated from Caroline High School in 1957. He served in the US Army October 1958- January 1962 serving his last 25 months in Frankfort, Germany. Upon his return to the USA, he visited Tampa, met the girl next door, Sharon, and they were married August 23, 1963. Tom worked for First Florida Banks for 17 years and in February 1979 he began Tom’s Travel catering to senior travelers until his retirement in 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marion. He is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Tom (Kim) and Chris (Kathy) and grandchildren Chandler, Kennedy, Katie, Paige, Lauren and Meredith and his sister, Ruth Pippin. In lieu of flowers, suggested donations could be made to Thawley United Methodist Chapel, Denton, Maryland, Southeast Guide Dog School, Palmetto, Florida or Bayshore Baptist Church, Tampa, Florida. From Tom – “Please know that I am in a better place and with my Savior, Jesus because I asked him to come into my life and he forgave me of my sins- just as you can.” A memorial service will be held at Bayshore Baptist Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00pm.
