It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel Benjamin Crowthers, affectionately known as Sam, on July 14, 2024, at 4:29 PM at Tampa General Hospital. Born on August 9, 2000, in Tampa, FL, Sam was just 23 years old. He resided in Riverview, FL.
Sam is survived by his loving family: his father, David Crowthers of Tampa, FL; his girlfriend, Rebecca Waterman of Riverview, FL; his grandmother, Alice Crowthers of West Chester, PA; his grandfather, Robert Crowthers of Malvern, PA; his aunt, Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Denver, PA; his uncle, Steven Crowthers of Ashland, OR; his grandfather, James Considine of Tampa, FL; his aunt, Lori Considine of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; his uncle, Michael Considine of Tampa, FL; his stepmother, Diane-elaine Speros Crowthers; his stepsister, Kelsey Speros of Tampa, FL; his stepbrother, Kobe Speros of St. Augustine, FL; his extended family in the West Chester, PA; Buffalo, NY, and Hilton Head, SC areas; and numerous cousins, nephews, and hundreds of friends and acquaintances.
Sam was a proud and loving dog-dad to Kilo, who tragically passed away with him in the unfortunate accident. In his final act of selflessness, Sam was trying to save Kilo when they were both hit by a car. As an organ donor, Sam saved numerous lives, dying a hero. His honor walk to the operating room was epically attended.
Sam embraced life with passion and joy, living every day to the fullest. His most cherished moments were spent with Rebecca and Kilo. Growing up, Sam had a deep love for baseball, playing at a high level in his youth. During his childhood, he enjoyed playing outside, going to Rays games with his mom, swimming, and spending time with close family and friends. Sam was the proud owner of his Dodge Charger Scat Pack and could often be seen by neighbors washing it weekly. He had an affection for high speeds, burnouts, and its loud muffler. He excelled as a Retail Manager for the past six years, leading his team with dedication and enthusiasm. A fitness enthusiast, Sam hit the gym almost daily, relishing the burn of a great workout and holding himself accountable to his goals.
Sam will join his mother, Leigh Considine Crowthers, who passed away twelve years ago; his grandmother, Diane Considine, who passed away late last year; and his childhood best fur-friend, Louie, in the afterlife. We find comfort knowing that his mother welcomed him with open arms on what would have been her 46th birthday this past week.
Sam was an amazing friend, a loving boyfriend to Rebecca, a proud dog-dad, an excellent leader and respectful coworker, a trustworthy and reliable teammate, a remarkable and loving family member, and the best son a father could ever wish for. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His incredible story will carry on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Sam Crowthers. Your memory will live on forever.
