Rolando Navarro was born in East Chicago, Indiana on August 18, 1943. He entered heaven’s gate on September 14, 2020. Rolando proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and was stationed in Southern California during his entire four-year enlistment. Rolando had a 40-year successful career as a telecommunications technician. He was an accomplished underwater photographer and scuba diver. Rolando was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Miami Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football, and Tampa Bay Rays baseball. He enjoyed raising orchids, and the clowder of cats that owned him over the years. Rolando had a big, generous heart, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rolando had an unwavering faith in God and participated in a men’s bible study group were he made many good friends. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Rolando was involved in several sessions of Christ Renews His Parish in a support role and volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank during his retirement years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, brothers Paul and Carlos; sisters-in-law Stella Houseknecht, Marie Duchy, and Christine Duchy, and brother-in-law Walter Duchy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 2348 Collier Parkway, Land O Lakes, FL 34639 on Friday, October 9, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. honor guard ceremony at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL where his remains will be interred.
