Robert "Bob" Michael Wilson, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021 after a brief illness. Born July 10, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, he and his family moved to Tampa in 1961 where his father was a partner in an automobile dealership. Bob was a graduate of H. B. Plant High School and Jacksonville University. After graduation from Jacksonville University, he worked for five years for the Chrysler Corporation. In 1975 he was offered an ownership position in the Massey Dodge dealership in Tampa that would later become Bob Wilson Dodge.
During his long career as a dealer, he served on the board of the Dodge brand’s national advertising association, as well as the board of the Florida Dodge Dealers Advertising Association (10 years as its President). Bob was generous in his support of the community, particularly Moffitt Cancer Center and his church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, where he was a member for 25 years, as well as countless individuals. He loved all sports, particularly golf, football and basketball, and was generous in his support of both the University of Florida (Lifetime Bull Gator) and the University of South Florida (Green Jacket). He was a member of Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club and a former member of University Club of Tampa.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Louise Bailey Wilson and James Robert Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia McCloskey Wilson, their daughter, Ansley Wilson Kriz, their granddaughters Alexandria Bailey Kriz and Addison Bailey Kriz, and their son, Robert Paul Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 906 S. Orleans Ave., Tampa, at 2:00 p.m. on July 23, 2021. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church. The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their outstanding care.
