Peggy Lou Kaspar

Peggy Lou (French) Kaspar was born on May 10, 1935. She passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on November 26, 2024. Peggy was married to Paul E. Kaspar Jr. for 66 years until his passing on July 31, 2019. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Kaspar, Sandi Bailey, son-in-law James T. Bailey, granddaughters Kristen (Bailey) Culbertson, husband Anthony Culbertson, Kimberly Bailey, husband Per Poulsen, grandson Thor A. Bailey, and great granddaughters Cadence Culbertson and Freyja Poulsen.

Peggy is predeceased by her brothers Leo French, Donald French, and James French. She is survived by sisters - Shearl Brown, Joyce Marley, and Nancy Tracy; and brothers - Paul French, Carl French, Mike French, and Chuck French. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Peggy had many dear friends.

Peggy did many things in her life. Some of her jobs included: the Girls P.E. Teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic School. She loved to teach sports to the kids and when it rained the girls had to square dance in the hall. There was a lot of giggling when we had to do-si-do. Peggy was a self-taught cook and baker. She even opened up a catering business with one of her good friends, they catered many parties and weddings. She also owned and operated a maternity shop in Temple Terrace. She worked in the copy department proofreading at U.S.F. Peggy loved all the jobs she had but she always talked about the job she had in downtown Tampa, working at Woolworths. That’s how she met Paul Kaspar; she was walking to work one day and Paul asked if she wanted a ride to work and after that, they were always together.

Peggy's many hobbies included: reading almost anything she could get her hands on. You could often find her reading under a lamp, and she often would read well into the night. One of her favorite books was “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein. A much-loved pastime was playing poker, often with her siblings and their husbands and wives, she always would have such a great laugh when she would win. Peggy also loved to play bingo and has made many lifelong friends. Whether she won or not, it never mattered to her, she just enjoyed the fun times and people. She also would play bridge with some friends. She was a great fisherwoman and loved to fry them up afterward. Early in the morning when we would go to the beach and the sun came up, you could find her on the beach looking for shells. She has quite a collection. Peggy cooked many delicious meals and baked lots of desserts. She would always say she made a truckload or a holy ton and always had something to share. Most of the time if you asked her for a recipe she would happily share, but most of the time she would measure with her heart while she cooked, so the results may not always have been the same. A common instruction would be, “I used a pinch of this” or “a pinch of that.” She also has put many puzzles together throughout her life.

Peggy was loved by many and will be missed by all. G.Y.M.

A visitation for Peggy will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
