Pat was born in Youngstown, Ohio, to James and Agnes Griffin on March 22, 1938. She went to high school at Ursuline in Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio in 1960. It is in Cleveland that she met her husband who attended John Carroll University. She married Martin Joseph Haitz, a week after they graduated on June 18, 1960 in Youngstown, Ohio. They celebrated forty-six years of marriage just prior to his passing in June of 2006. She was an Occupational Therapist Aide for Hillhaven in Tampa, FL. In addition to raising a family of six children, she was a 30 year volunteer of the American Red Cross, running the school clinics of both Christ the King School and Tampa Catholic High School. She was a Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound of Christ the King parish and later, Incarnation parish. She was a woman of strong faith attending daily mass all her life. She also sponsored several candidates in the RCIA process at Incarnation Church. She was a member of the Jesuit Mother’s Club and a lover of all babies. Her other great loves besides her family and babies, were chocolate and puzzles. She was known to spend the holidays with her family eating chocolate while doing puzzles, particularly Gorant’s chocolates! She loved both so much in fact that later in life she worked in both a puzzle store and a Lindt Chocolate store.
Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marty, her parents, James and Agnes Griffin, her sister Kay Griffin, and brothers, Michael and John Griffin, her husband’s parent’s RA and Alice Haitz, sister, Suellen Haitz and brother, Richard Haitz, II.
Pat is survived by her children Martin Joseph Jr., (Laura), James Griffin (Karen), Matthew Richard, Elizabeth Ann Kelly, (Mike), Mark William, and Karen Agnes Eberly (Craig) and her grandchildren, Jace, Chelsea Haitz (DavidTilton), Connor Haitz, James (Anna), Zachary (Joanna), and Christian Haitz, Edward, Max and Caroline Kelly, Patrick, Timothy, Ryan, Kathleen and Emma Eberly and great grandchildren Ellen, Grace, Penelope, Liberty and Rowen Haitz. Beloved sIsters, Dwyn (Dick) Peake, Mary Eileen (Mike) McAtee, sister-in-law, Patti Griffin, her husband’s beloved siblings, Judy (Bob) Marchese, Jim Haitz, Kate Quinlin (Sonny Stumpf), Greg (Elaine) Haitz, Mary (John) Konarski, Chris Haitz, Gerard (Nancy) Haitz, and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Incarnation Church with Fr. Michael Owen Parochial Vicar of Incarnation Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Blount & Curry Funeral Home Oldsmar.
Memorials may be given to Marian Servants of Divine Providence (divineprovidence.org) Alpha House of Tampa, (rightservicefl.org), Tampa Catholic High School (tampacatholic .org) or Jesuit High School (jesuittampa.org) in her name.
