We announce the passing of our father, Orlando Miguel Perez Hernandez, who passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023. Born on July 5, 1928, in Pinar del Rio, Cuba; he lived a life filled with hope, joy, and purpose.
Orlando made significant contributions to his community and beyond. Through his acts of kindness and compassion, he brightened the lives of children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a registered nurse, he excelled in the field of medicine, where he displayed an unmatched dedication and skill. Outside of his work, he pursued his passion for writing short stories.
He leaves behind, his daughter, Luisa M. Long; son, Orlando Perez Montes de Oca; nephew, Julian Luis Perez; and six grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Taylor, Benjamin, Morgan and Christian – all who are a source pride. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all relatives and friends for their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
A graveside service for Orlando will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects to honor a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a cause that was close to his heart.
