Miguel was born on 10/27/1938 to Dolores Acosta & Luis A. Garcia. He attended PS 9 Elementary School and John Jay High School in Brooklyn, NY, the University of Puerto Rico and later earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Tampa College.
Miguel excelled at many career endeavors including being a cargo plane pilot, selling wine and spirits and eventually retiring from Social Security Administration as a Claims Representative.
Miguel’s interests and passions were varied and included: Piloting aircrafts of different types, drinking, collecting, and teaching about fine wine and traveling far and wide. In their forty-four years of marriage, he and his wife loved traveling throughout Europe, Puerto Rico and the United States. Miguel was an amazing cook, lovingly creating an endless array of edible creations for friends and family. While cooking, he could often be heard listening to & singing opera. Miguel also loved spending time with and supporting his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Miguel was predeceased by parents, Dolores Acosta & Luis A. Garcia; son, Robert Garcia; daughter, Marilyn Garcia; sister, Zoraida Garcia and brother, Alfred Garcia.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Ana; sons, John and Luis; daughters, Ana Rebeca, Lourdes, Deborah; nieces and nephews, seventeen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, Anabel and Reina and son-in-law, Richard.
Services:
A Funeral Mass will take place at on Monday, November 21st at 10am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church located at 12708 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618. There will be a greet and meet at church entrance at 9:30am.
Burial will take place following the mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery located at 5233 118th Ave N, Clearwater, FL 33760 at approximately 12pm.
Celebration of Life Location: Mike and Ana Garcia's home located at 9627 West Park Village Drive, Tampa 33626. Following burial, approx. 3pm
Donations: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be contributed to the St. Vincent De Paul poor box located inside of St. Paul Catholic Church or any charity of your choice.
