She was born on July 6th, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late John Hamilton and M. Louise (Pendley) Beckett. She married Ronald Partin on April 24th 1981; they just recently celebrated 39 years of marriage. Mary held several blue collar jobs over the years to help support her family. She retired early in life due to a back injury that allowed her to be able to take care of her mother and be a home maker. She spent the majority of her life caring for others and being highly involved in her church. She was a faithful member of Faith Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Tampa where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved playing her guitar and singing with the church choir.
Mary, along with her husband, Ron, spent many years traveling around to different churches to share the gospel of Jesus through song. Their first group was named The Homeland Gospel Singers and the second ensemble was called The Heavenly Heirs (that included their daughter Janice and granddaughter Naomi). At the age of 50, Mary went back to school and earned her High School Diploma. This allowed her and her granddaughter, Naomi, to be able to walk on graduation day and accept their diplomas together.
Mary bravely fought a battle with cancer for the last nine years of her life. She took her diagnosis in stride and did not let it stop her from living and enjoying her life. Being the natural caregiver that she was, she even went back to work at HARC Sunrise Community Inc. to help care for the mentally disabled and handicapped while also receiving chemo treatment herself.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, John Hamilton, and Mother, Maude Louise and a great-grandson, Liam. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald, along with their one daughter: Janice Green, two grandchildren, Naomi Meadows and Joshua McWilliams, one great-grandchild, Alyssa Meadows. Mary also leaves behind her sister, E. Clorinda Sapp and two nephews, Robert Beckett and John Sapp, and many friends, including a very special church family. A viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610 from 1-3 p.m. followed by a Graveside Funeral Service and Burial officiated by Pastor Bill Riley. With the current health and safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that you please take all necessary precautions when attending the visitation and the funeral.
