Mary was predeceased by her husband Pat and her parents Dorothy and David Castro. She is survived by her daughter Mary Pat Valdez (Joey) her sister, Grace Alfonso, her only granddaughter, Gina Valdez, her nephew, David Alfonso (Janice), her “adopted” daughter, Gina Vaglica Hayden and many cousins and Godchildren.
Mary was born and raised in Tampa. In her early years she worked in a cigar factory. After that she worked for the Neighborhood Youth Corps. She worked at Nitram Inc. until her retirement.
During her retirement she volunteered at the Straz and with Hospice and she worked part time at the Channelside gift shop. She loved her Bible study groups and was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Mary was a devout Mother, Wife, Wella, Sis, Godmother, Aunt, Cuz, and friend to many. We will miss her quick witted conversations. She was loved by all who knew her especially her only grandchild.
She will be missed by her grand dogs, Stella, Darby and Loki.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 10110 N Central Ave, Tampa, FL 33612
