To Linda and the Peterson  family...

So sorry to hear that Mark has passed.    
My sincere sympathies to you and all the family.  Mark was a great guy and I know he will be missed by many.  

May you take comfort in knowing he’s in a better place and now reunited with mom and dad.

I just received notice of Pete’s passing in the Jesuit Perspectives Magazine this week. Pete and I played on Jesuit’s football teams in 1967, 1968 and 1969. and forged a friendship that caused us to light up each time we saw each other. Although our paths didn’t cross often, Pete’s caring spirit and his straightforward approach to friendship was a joy. My best wishes to the family - many lives are better for Pete’s journey. To God be the Glory.

Linda and family, 

   I will forever remember the kindness shown to me from Pete. We met because I worked with the International Academy as a motivational speaker. Pete appreciated me being a guest speaker and called all the other teachers in DECA and told them to "book" me into their classes. He always went the extra mile to help someone! He also asked me every year to be a judge at their events. Then one day he asked if we could sponsor their annual event. For Pete I would move mountains and we did sponsor the event. 
    Pete and Linda became like everyone else that ever met them part of their clan.  When Pete & Linda were looking for EF families we stepped up and over the years took 3 French students and 2 from Sweden. 
     Other memories include all the most amazing "airfest" parties! Dear God, those were so much fun! 
       Pete will always be in my heart and on my mind as a mentor, an inspiration, a man of integrity and a man who loved, loved and loved everyone he ever met.  Most importantly, he adored his family. 

Pete was a dear teacher to our three children. He was a great friend and support for us when we lost our son Andy. Thank you Pete for all you did for us, your students, and the community. We are all going to miss you dearly!



Coach "Pete" was one of the best.  He had a lasting, positive influence on all the kids who were fortunate enough to have spent some of their formative years with him and I am glad to count myself among them.  He will be missed.  I'm sure he'll run into my step dad Ballard in heaven and have a chance to enjoy some ribs as we did at so many football gatherings.  

I have struggled with writing this, as it seems so unreal to be summarizing my memory of Pete. He was always larger than life. 
 Pete was my first boyfriend. I first met him when as high school students , we participated in productions of the Jesuit Masque club, directed by Father John Kaack. He was one of the sweetest and kindest guys I have ever known.  Pete was well liked  and respected by  both his classmates and his teachers. He was always  so happy and friendly.  
Rest In Peace.  Your memory will forever exist in your family, friends, and students. You clearly left behind  a wonderful legacy. I know your family is proud. 

I was so sorry to hear about Pete’s passing.  I taught with Linda at Leto many years ago, but always remembered the good times spent with the Peterson’s. Linda and Pete raised a wonderful family that has continued to grow. Their strong sense of faith and service to others is a legacy that will live on forever. May Pete Rest In Peace and enjoy all the gifts that heaven has to offer.  Linda, my prayers are with you🙏🏻

Rest in Peace, Pete. As I write this I am listening to Marcia Ball on radio. I'm glad I had the chance to share a Jazz Fest with you and Linda, as well as many subdudes shows. You spread the love and even though it has been years since I've seen ya'll, I treasure the memories and am grateful that I knew you.

I will always remember him so tall and full of life coming to Robinson High football games with his wife and children many years ago.  Rest in Peace.

Coach Pete was my absolute favorite teacher at Robinson High School. It was a blessing to see him and talk to him at C/O 98” class reunion. You will forever be missed! Praying for my dear friend Lauren, Mrs.Peterson and the entire family. 



Everyone was a friend of Pete. He welcomed family,  colleagues, coaches, students and friends into his love of life embrace. His parties were legendary.  Pete loved to cook and was particularly proud of his jambalaya. His MacDill Air Show events could not be missed. We were blessed to have worked with Pete and Linda and to have Kevin, Lauren and Christine at Robinson. A stellar family. Pete lived a life of purpose and made a positive difference in countless lives. May he rest in God's eternal peace. 


I have many fond memories of Pete from my college years visiting with his parents Pete and Rita. Pete taught me how to cook and eat  artichokes, my favorite food now.! We than reconnected for the McGill Air Shows when I moved to Fl. I truly appreciated the invites. It became quite clear that Pete has impacted  many lives and was an amazing family man, husband and father. May he RIP and always be in our hearts, 
 

I met Mark "Pete" Peterson @Loyola University, New Orleans in 1970. We became good friends and fraternity brothers and I will always think of him as "Big Guy" for his stature but, especially his Big love for All. He had a huge heart and everyone was a friend. My wife Cathy and family moved to Orlando and raised our children. Pete and lovely wife Linda were in Tampa, but, we All loved New Orleans and visited " Jazzfest" many times. Ah, they were good times and I miss him already, of course, wishing I had spent more time with him. We both raised families and time flies by waiting for no one. Mr. Pete really made my day working at mamas kitchen he always had the most amazing attitude which was contagious. He will truly be missed. Im truly grateful to have got to know him.

Pete was amazing to all of us. I don't think I ever heard him say an unkind word about his students/friends. He was always so understanding and loving.  Always ready with a hug when needed. The world was certainly a better place with him and he will be missed by all. XOXO

Coach Pete was a legend to say the least! He was there for me in my high school days, C/O 1985. Coached my son who graduated in 2006 and again there with my other son in 2016.  Always with a smile and positive vibes and encouragement. He was one of the COOLEST teachers, coaches and friends ever. He will be missed greatly. Condolences to his family. RIP. 🙏🏽🥰🙏🏽

Pete was my absolute favorite teacher from high school. He was the students biggest supporter. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to make you laugh. I’m so incredibly sorry to hear of his passing. May you Rest In Peace Pete. To his family, praying that you are filled with happy memories and surrounded by love ❤️ 

Pete was always ready to help, and he helped me many times from computer printer problems to motivating lazy students.  The students loved him because they realized his firm but fair methods only helped them. He was unselfish with his time and experience. My condolences to his family.

I, too, am one of the many who have been blessed to know Pete and his wonderful family.  He was my DECA mentor and buddy.  I learned so much from him about school, work and life.  He taught me how to make self watering vegetable garden containers, how to be in the moment and how to look at what really mattered in life.  He was and is the definition of " the cool guy."   

Mr. Peterson was so insightful. He ran my Junior Achievement group and continued to encourage and support my path for helping others and administrative work...and today its still what I do. 
He joked but was serious about us achieving short and long term goals. He was one of my favorites. 

Pete...that man truly bled silver, black, white and gray! I consider myself blessed to have crossed paths with Pete! He was honestly more than a teacher...he was honestly everyone's FRIEND! He treated all his students equally and was truly invested in every one-on-one conversation he had with each and every one of us. I will forever remember talking to him about "boy problems" and he called me "fickle"...I had no clue what that meant. He refused to tell me and MADE me look it up. WAY BEFORE GOOGLE...he was right...and we had a good laugh about it. 
Thanks for always opening your classroom door as well as your home to all of us!

Coach Pete. There's no word that can help to explain how you helped me while at school. On the field, you were always pushing us to the max. Off the field and in the classroom,  you always had your door open to talk with great advice.  Thanks for being a great teacher/coach and person. You will always be remembered. once a Knight.....Always a Knight.

Pete was one of two teachers I had in my life time that made me think of the person I wanted to become in life. My hats off to you and thank you for making that difference in my life as a young man. I'm sure you did this with many. My condolences to the Peterson Family. Pete it was an honor to have known you my friend!

Coach Pete is one of the many memories of my time at Robinson.  Prayers for all of his family.  I’m sure Ballard will save him some bar b que when he gets to Heaven 

This man was called Coach Pete by me, but he helped mold me like a father. Coach Pete went above and beyond any teacher I have ever had.  He truly enjoyed inspiring me and pushed me to do things I didn't think possible. He was truly a blessing in my life and he will truly be missed.I send my condolences to the entire family .. Mama Pete is also dynamite and they were a great dynamic duo.I may not have made it thru high school if he had not invested his time in me. On the track he use to say "watch for that gorilla in the last stretch of the race and GO!GO!GO!. I use those words til this day whenever life gets hard which is always.  Coach Pete is always in my heart.Now that his work here is done, it's time for him to rest in heaven in the Lord. Rest in peace, but I know I will see u again.❤

Pete will always be family. From standing at his door every morning to greet the students, to pulling you aside to personally make sure you were okay. We will miss you. So blessed to have been able to attend your yearly parties when we were in town.  My condolences to the Peterson family, and to those of us with different last names, but loved him like family. I was in Ms. Ancivino then Ms. Trish Griffin homeroom all 4 years of high school always next door to Mr. Peterson. He was always standing outside his door talking to students.  I remember when I got into travel DECA we were doing a mural at some point and  I was making my mark on the mural he said be big go bigger stand out! So I did. Those words stuck with me while I was making the FIRST  travel DECA photo album.  And RHS Travel DECA came home from Colorado with a trophy.  Go big or go home! He seemed to know I had a big personality and could do things. Though I didn't know you well Mr. Peterson you seem to know me. Thank you. And I loved our DECA trips!


My first interaction with Coach Pete was in 1995. I was on drill team, and it was homecoming night. We were all in a line with our rifles while they announced the homecoming court. As they were coming to the field, a rogue sprinkler turned on. Without missing a beat, Coach Pete makes a mad dash toward the field, covered it with a trash can and sat on it.  Everyone cheered! LOL  
 
My heart goes out to the Peterson family. The world is definitely a darker place without Coach Pete! 

My deepest condolences to Mr.Peterson's family. I had the honor of being one of his students over 3 decades ago. He was a great mentor. He will be forever missed. God grant everyone peace, now and always. 

I love you Pete. Thank you for always being my friend. I got so lucky when you took me under your wing. Like so many others, you impacted my life in such a positive way. I have no doubts I will see you again so set up a heavenly air show bash and we'll do some Neil Young. I'll miss you until then. RIP

Pete was a friend to many many people,  but he always made you feel like you were the most important person. Never have I known anyone like him who truly opened his heart and home to others as he did. We had great times on our DECA trips with our students at RHS. I thank you for being a great next door buddy on the best hallway at RHS. Your generosity and compassion for others will be the light that inspires us all. You truly impacted the world.

Pete’s mother was my godmother and my Mom’s youngest sister. 
My Mom was heartbroken to hear about Pete and his families loss.
I began going to Florida in the early 60’s to visit Pete and his Mom & Dad. Pete was like a brother to me who I always admired for his love of family and friends. He always had a way with him of keeping it simple. I will miss him very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Rita Peterson. Pete is survived by his wife, Linda Peterson; children, Lauren (Kyle) Roach, Kevin Peterson, Christine (Marcus) Jackson; grandchildren, Kasey, Lainey, Kinzey, Linkin Roach.
