Luis Perez was born in Santiago De Cuba in 1933. He moved to New York with his family in the late 1950’s. While he lived in New York, he worked as a security guard officer. On November 24, 1967 he married Carmen Perez. They were married for 54 years.
In 1977, he and his family moved to Tampa, FL. He worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as Housekeeping in the ER for 15 years.
Upon retiring from St. Joseph’s Hospital, he had the opportunity to volunteer at both WestGate Christian School and WestGate Baptist Church. He helped monitor the school halls, helped in the daycare when needed, worked with volunteer services with the high school students and volunteered as a Pastor’s assistant.
His favorite hobby was dancing. He and his wife were excellent dancers. In their early years, they never missed an opportunity to dance at a family or social event.
His other loves were his fur babies, especially Bleu. Those two had a very special bond.
After the passing of his wife on April 26, 2021, he was never the same. He was truly heart broken. Three weeks after her passing, he had a really bad fall that would change his life completely. He lost mobility on his left side and became wheelchair and bed bound, and started to struggle with dementia. He fought a good fight till the very end. He passed away peacefully, with his daughter Alyssa by his side, on August 3, 2022. He was 89 years old.
This is not goodbye. It is until we meet again! We love you!
