Loretta Gabriel, 65, of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, was called to her heavenly home on March 16, 2018. Loretta was born September 18, 1952 on Saint Lucia, W.I. to Enos Charles and Annunciata (Philgence) Charles.
She married George Gabriel after moving to Saint Croix in 1972. George worked as a commercial fisherman and Loretta as a homemaker until 1988 when she began working for the local school bus company, eventually retiring in 2013.
Loretta was a humble, kind, and patient woman who loved the Lord and her family above all else. Her selfless love and dedication was clear to all who encountered her. She will be dearly missed for her joyful presence and heavenly voice that filled the house as she sang those memorable gospel songs; a beautiful woman through and through.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband George Gabriel and great grandchild Kayliz Arianna Perales. She was the devoted mother of Uriah Charles, Ruthfina Gabriel, Samantha Gabriel, Terence Gabriel, Earl Gabriel, Vernon Gabriel, and Brian Gabriel. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Peter Laguerre, Cecilia Paul, Clara Williams, Flora Charles, Delbert Charles, Enola Charles, Winsbert Charles, Erenius Charles, Nelda Auguste-Charles, Steve Charles, Stephen Charles, Torrence Charles, Anderson Charles, and Cletus Otis Charles. Loretta will also be missed by her dear friends Francisca Felix, Agnes Andrews, and Mary Leo.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 12:00 to 2:30 P.M. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Progress Village Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tampa, Florida. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Following the service, the family will visit with family and friends at The Barn at Winthrop Event Hall in Riverview, Florida from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
