Lisa Burnette Cook

Lisa was born on the 29th of March 1954 to Harry and Ruth Burnette in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Plant High where she was Head Majorette. She began her professional career at Jim Walters and later worked for Hillsborough County, GTE. Lisa retired from Verizon as a senior manager.

Lisa married Ferris ‘Kin’ Cook on the 21st of October 1989. They shared a love of travel and entertainment, trips to Alaska, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, treasured celebrations at Thanksgiving, Christmas – Christmas trees in every room – Easter with a golden egg hunt. Oh, and the food at all of the events!

Lisa enjoyed sister’s trips with Sister Linda and sister-in-law Dee. She also enjoyed interior design, evidenced by their lovely home.

Lisa was proceeded in death by her soul mate, Kin, who died on the 30th of March 2023. Also, by parents Harry and Ruth.

She is survived by her son Travis (Jackie) of Denver NC; Stepson Alex (Laura) of Chantilly, VA; Beloved grandchildren: Ava, Cassie, and Conner; Sister Linda Hanson (Ken) of East Lansing, MI; Brother Colonel (R.) Larry Burnette (Dee) of Bradenton, FL; as well as treasured nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Lisa took a little of our sunshine with her, she is already missed.

A celebration of life will he held on September 2, 2023, at 3213 Ehrlich Rd, Tampa, FL 33618 at 4pm.
