So sad to hear about Linda's passing . I worked with her and she was always nice and always willing to help anyone in need. RIP Linda

I was always overly ambitious. Despite what most parents would see as dreaming, Mom saw as reality. For my first Dragon Con I wanted to construct a 20 foot dragon for the parade. She never questioned, never judged. She devoted months worth of weekends driving down to make my dream come true. I will never stop creating, thank you! 

Linda was a beautiful, bright, intelligent, and fun-loving daughter.  The family traveled extensively in Europe and the US.  In Bertschgarten, Germany Linda backpacked up and down the mountain.  At the Eagles Nest (Hitlers Retreat) her mother grabbed her as she got too close to the edge of the mountain.  On a visit to Yellow Stone National Park with her mother, a bison chased their car.  Traveling in the US she ordered steak at the restaurant.  In Germany she learned German and made many friends.  Linda graduated from Brandon High School and was in the JROTC Program.  She had the honor of being the first female cadet to hold a position on Battalion Staff.
Linda and her sister Sandra were close when growing up and she was very protective of her younger sister, even though they squabbled as siblings do.  She had a relationship with her German grandma (Ella) and her great uncle Alfred.  Being in the military I didn’t spend as much time with the family as I should, but we had fun when together.  Linda was a great daughter, wife, mother who put her children first and foremost.
We will always remember the good times.  We love and miss you Linda.

PART 3:

She is the reason I love poetry.  I don’t know what her hopes and dreams were as a kid.  What she wanted to grow up to be or what she originally went to college to study before I came along but when she went back to school through one of the few long distance learning programs at the time she chose to try to get her Bachelors in English.  It seemed like a great choice, she was a voracious reader and she loved talking about what she read.  One of the classes she had to take for the degree was poetry which is where she fell in love with Robert Frost.  It was while she was taking the class that she used to read the poems she was studying to me which is how I fell in love with poetry.
Mom’s passion, joy, and kindness were infectious.  She made people feel safe, loved, and like they could do anything. She was mom, to everyone.  Our friends when we were younger, coworkers and adult friends when we got older, sometimes even to the people she worked with.  I used to introduce her to people as “This is my mom.” And they would reply, “I am sure she has a name”.  
“Nope, I am pretty certain her name is just mom”.  
I love you mom


PART 2:

She loved creating things.  We used to paint prefab ceramics to have them glazed and display them.  She taught me and my siblings how to cross stitch, she even made homemade cross stitch ornaments for us and our cousins for baby’s first Christmas.  She loved to assemble fake plants for decorations in not just our house but our neighbors. She was innovative, a make nothing out of something kind of person.  She made our costumes when we were children by hand.  I remember her spending hours hand sewing individual sequence into my sister’s butterfly wings or my vampire cape.  Using wire hangers and cloth to make my brother a 3d turtle shell for his ninja turtle costume.  She definitely passed on that passion for creation.  The 14-foot dragon she helped my sister create for a convention is proof of that.
My mom showed us the world, quite literally.  She was an adventurer, an explorer, a travel agent, and avid photographer.  She loved to travel and experience new places.  She loved helping others do so as well.  Organizing two amazing trips to France for our French classes.  I remember signing ‘Stop in the name of love’ in French as we walked down the street from the pool.  Eating snails in this small restaurant near the hotel.  Taking a picture of Michelle asleep on the back seat of the bus hugging her box of chocolates so no one would steal them.  Back then we didn’t have cellphones so if you wanted pictures you had to have a 35mm camera.  My mom had this amazing camera with the interchangeable zoom lenses that she used to take pictures and I was so jealous.  I wanted one just like hers.  I remember the first time she let me use it.  We were in Egypt and she let me use her expensive camera.  She is the reason I love photography.


PART 1:

My mom was a dreamer, an optimist, one of the most creative people I have ever known, and one of the kindest.  She had so many talents and interests.  As an adult, looking back at all she did when we were younger, well…it was nothing short of pure magic.  
She was an amazing cook, most of the time, though she is still the reason I will not eat Spanish Rice or Vegetarian Lasagna to this day.  I remember when we were living in Germany and visiting her uncle, whom we all called Uncle Alfred, and she was making Duck à l'Orange on a camping grill and it turned out fantastic.  It made a believer out of my uncle who was skeptical that it would be edible because he was afraid she had learned how to cook from her mother.  Her goulash and sauerbraten were always family favorites.  Though mine will never taste quite the same as hers I am glad I got a chance to learn how to make them and she showed me the joy of cooking.  The cleanup after, I am not a fan of.  
She was a talented baker and cake decorator.  Her banana nut bread was out of this world.  Her cakes with their amazing decorations were always a hit.  Not only were they always delicious but they were beautiful and fun.  A basketball court for my brother’s basketball team at the end of their season.  A U2 for my dad’s graduation from flight school.  She had a special kit for her cakes and she always seemed so happy when she was decorating.  


I am so grateful in the past few years to have been able to share my love of Disney with my mother, returning the favor for all the years of childhood amusement park memories. I will treasure her eyes when she saw the lights at Hollywood Studios, and how she cried listening to the voices of liberty.  Every character interaction and photo was made brighter by her positive energy. Such a huge heart and a magical woman! 

My mother was a loving and caring woman who was always there for us no matter what. She had a way of always being optimistic no matter the situation and being kind to everyone.  We traveled alot and she always wanted us to see and be in other cultures and it made me be more open minded in my life. Some of my fondest memories will always be movie nights with shrimp and bake potatoes, the time we spent while traveling, and always losing to her in cards. She was the best mother anyone could ask for and though she had 3 children she was always there to pick up others and be there for them as well. She was a wonderful woman and will be truly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Chase and I are very lucky to have had Aunt Linda as an Aunt. 
Some of the best memories are from around Christmas when we would go to grandma and grandpas house to eat lasagna and just catch up and laugh. She will be very very missed. We love you, Shelbie & Chase

For the past twenty years Linda has been a second mother to me.  She "adopted" me into her family and taught me to love Mahjong, even when she hoarded all the honors tiles.  We had great times at Disney together, and the memory of her childlike joy will forever bring a smile to my face.  I will always remember the visits we shared for the games we played and the Goulash we ate.  I love you Mom and I will miss you. 

My sister was one of a kind. I remember being young girls,  biting each other and pulling each others hair and driving mom and dad crazy!!! We traveled a ton with our parents when we were younger, all over Europe. We spent our summers in Babenhausen with Oma, eating delicious kassesane. When I was dating my first husband, she knew before me that he was the one. I really valued her opinion on who I should date and be friends with. She saved my butt more than once, whether it was skipping school or sneaking out, she had my back. We were best friends when we were younger and all though we grew apart in our later years, I will miss my sister more than I can comprehend. I know she is at peace and watching over us.  Love you. 

From a very young age my Mother instilled in me a love for literature and travel. By the time I was a teenager I had seen more of the world than most people do in their entire lives. All the while engrossing me in a diversity of cultures. My love for fantasy and science fiction has brought me so much joy over the years; including my joy of sewing, something else I got from her.  The simple things are those that I will remember the most: baked potato and movie night, bowling, cooking, Halloween costumes, amusement parks and any number of games, from cards to video. I have more fond memories of mom with a simple deck of cards than probably any other. Sometimes she destroyed us like in classic Nintendo games or Mah Jong, seriously how can one person get so many honors. Sometimes she was a graceful loser, like in CAH, Kool Aid Man. I never wanted for love and support from my Mother, she was always there for me in good times or bad. I have been told that I look like my mother, and I have always been flattered to be compared to such a beautiful woman. More than just her outer beauty, and more important by far, was the depth of her inner beauty. Her smile, her laugh, and her blasted eternal optimism, made every person who interacted with her, better for it. For the rest of my life, whether I am traveling in this one, exploring imaginary ones, creating, or just enjoying a good game night, I will carry that light and joy that she had inside her with me. I love you Mom. 


Linda (mom) loved her children and that love reached beyond her children to their friends.  I won't forget how anytime she came to visit she always made lots of great food for everyone and how willing she was to share her talents.  I still have the "practice" bouquet she made for me to use during my wedding rehearsal and remember the work she did last minute to make sure Michelle's dress would fit her perfectly.  She made an impact on those she cared about and will be missed.
