Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Jeremiah Hendrix, and unknown siblings.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; daughter Farah Turk and husband Ronald, children that he raised as his own; Anthony Hendricks, Robert Hendricks, Brian Hendricks, Kim Hendricks, Kevin Hendricks (Deceased), Dondi Hendricks and their mother Yvonne Hendrix, his surviving sibling Erma Mae Pollard, along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Lewis was born in Cerulean, Kentucky and decided to join the ranks of the United States
Air Force in 1954. He loved the United States Air Force, servicing the USA, and meeting new friends as he traveled abroad to include three tours to Vietnam! He was a loving and devoted family man with a big heart and had a great since of humor! He lived a very simple, but structured lifestyle and his motto was "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail"!
Lewis retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He then went to work for Hillsborough County School Board for 26 years where he was employed as an Office Machine Repairman and retired. He loved to go fishing, making things as a hobby and was an avid Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan.
A funeral service will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610, 12 noon on Thursday, December 31, 2020; family and friends visit and hour prior. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
