Joseph L. Guagliardo, 85, a 2nd generation native of Tampa, Florida, passed on July 8th, 2016, at his home of 54-years on Davis Islands, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Joseph was born on April 28th, 1931 and is survived by his wife Joann Torretta Guagliardo, his son Paul J. Guagliardo, daughter Gayle Guagliardo-Pichowski, daughter-in-law, Victoria Perla Guagliardo, and son-in-law, Mark Pichowski. He has six grandchildren, Paul J. Guagliardo II, Kathryn Dolly Boushall, Lindsay Ann Boushall, Julia Guagliardo, Alena Pichowski, and Gabriella Pichowski. He is also survived by his two nieces, Roxanne and Cheryl Guagliardo. Joseph is predeceased by his father Paul Guagliardo, his mother Katie LaBarbera Guagliardo, and brother John Guagliardo. Joe and his family were pioneers in the dairy industry building one of the largest independent dairy farms -- American Dairy -- in Brandon, Florida. Joseph graduated from Hillsborough High School and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa. Joseph was a member of the University Club, Palma Ceia and The Tampa Yacht and Country Club. He was also involved with the Rotary Club in Ybor City. Visitation is at Blount & Curry Funeral Home on 605 S MacDill Avenue in Tampa from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 13th 2016. A short mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 14th. The Guagliardo family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Melech Hospice House, Joe’s private caregiver Susan McClean and all of his family and friends who were there for him in his time of need.
