John W. Wilcox, 77, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on August 31, 2022. He was born in Long Beach, California on February 6, 1945 to John and Frances Wilcox and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He obtained his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Florida and was a member of Florida Blue Key.
John served as a pilot in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Navy Reserve after 24 years of service.
John began his legal career in Atlanta, Georgia with the EPA. He then moved to Florida in 1981 where he practiced law for forty years. He was involved in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, North Tampa Bar Association and Rotary Club. He gave back to his profession in countless ways and was a mentor to many attorneys along the way.
John loved golf, soccer and the Florida Gators. John was a man of faith and had endless love for his family.
A devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Susan, his children, John Wilcox (Nellie), Elisabeth Marte (Elvin) and Benjamin Wilcox, his step-daughter, Alexis Fruge’ (Jason Isaac) and eight grandchildren, Hannah, Aiden and Lukas Wilcox, Liam and Elisa Marte, Austin Wilcox, and Evan and Claire Isaac. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Wilcox and his brother, Murray Wilcox.
A Memorial Service will be held September 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home- Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33618.

A memorial service for John will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home -Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, Florida 33618, followed by a reception from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
