John was a great friend and employee, who did an outstanding job in his field. We had a great relationship and was always in discussions about how to increase capabilities at SOCOM and  the US Army. I was so sorry at his passing. 

We are so very saddened by the untimely passing of John. Our hearts are heavy. We pray for strength for you and the family.  John was Phillips first company commander in 1986 DMZ South Korea.

I've known John for the last 4 and a half years.  We play an online game and have been a part of one of the better guilds in the game.  We knew him as Strats.  He was a great leader and strategist.  Our guild of 80 people almost entirely prayed together when he had his first illness and then mourned at his passing.  Many others in the game have sent their condolences.  He touched a lot of people with his kindness.  Though we never met, we talked almost every evening in our strategy sessions.  We won't forget that smooth baritone voice.  May the Lord comfort and richly bless Jeannie and the kids in this trying time.  He is truly missed by us.

Jeannie, Jack, Juliette, and Joseph please accept my heartfelt condolences. I just received the belated word today. I am so deeply saddened by the loss of John who was a devoted husband, father and dear friend. John was such a remarkable man of keen intelligence and someone I highly trusted and valued for his integrity, candor and outstanding leadership. Among my 17 years at HQ USSOCOM, John was a standout in my mind and apart from the crowd of the faces. I will miss his vibrant personality, great smile and my dear friend. May God bless the Stratis family and keep you in His care during this most difficult time.

When word came to me of John's passing it was a shock and profoundly sad. John was always fun to be around, full of energy and had a great outlook on life. He got his strength and joy from the love of his family. I'm a better person having know him and to have worked with him. Jeannie and the kids will be in our prayers.

Our deepest condolences on the loss of John, a wonderful husband, father, soldier, and friend. We will never forget the memories we have from our time together in Korea, passing by your beautiful family with Joseph in the stroller. That picture will forever remain etched in our minds and hearts. John will never be forgotten.

My most recent memory of John was when we waved at each other across the parking lot.  John!  Alex!  A time like this is when you wished you'd gone over to shake hands.  But at least we still have memories. And I will remember working with John to institutionalize Irregular Warfare at HQ USSOCOM.  My condolence goes out to his family and friends.  John represents a Great American and mentor that will be truly missed.

I was so sorry to hear this.  John and I were company commanders together in Korea; our thoughts and prayers are with the Stratis family.

We are still in shock with this very sad news... John was a very good friend at Canton High School. We shared many laughs and adventures. I will always have a lot of fond memories with John!! He will be really missed.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Stratis family.  John was a breath of fresh air in our office at SOCOM J35.  Always pleasant, friendly, and welcoming.  He was a true professional.  I was fortunate to call him my friend and colleague.  Our hearts in J35 are breaking over his passing, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on, and that he now resides in a better place.  I hope his family is able to find comfort and healing with time.  Remember all the wonderful memories you had with John, laugh at all those silly things that happened, and feel great honor for John was an honorable man and soldier...a true class act.

My God!  It is with great sadness that I learned of my friend John's passing.  He was a Jacobs colleague, a good friend, and a fellow Army Officer.
Over the last six years I worked closely with John on many Jacobs contract proposals, attended conferences with him and many meetings.
John and I would meet sometimes at Clara's the old greasy spoon eatery in SOCOM and discuss our future at Jacobs, retirement, and our families.
John was highly intelligent, clear minded, and funny, loved his family and could always be depended on for anything you needed.  I will miss you John.  May God grant your family strength and comfort during this time of sadness for this too shall pass.

Our most sincere condolences to Jeannie, the children and all of John's family. Our hope is that, in time, sorrow will melt away, to be replaced by many happy memories. John and I had several adventures as cadets in I-3 and even though our careers took us on different paths, when we had the chance to get together it was always memorable. John lived life to the fullest and we feel fortunate to have shared a portion of that with him.

I pray for John's family at this loss.  John was a true friend and Great American, and Soldier.  His lived up stairs at School, and we enjoyed being neighbors at War College.  John will be greatly missed.  May God pour out His tender mercies on family and friends...I count it a true blessing to have known him...

My condolences to John's family.  John was my Beast Barracks roommate and one of the first people I met when I arrived at West Point in 1976.  He was a great roommate and a wonderful friend.  I will always remember him with fondness and respect.

I am so sorry for your loss.  John was a great American and he will be sorely missed by all those of us who knew him.  I hope your family can get through this sorrow knowing that he served his country well and loved his family.  Be Thou At Peace.

It is with a deep sadness that I learned of John's passing.  We were I-3 classmates throughout our four years at West Point.  Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to work with John during our military careers, however, I have the utmost respect for the manner in which he conducted himself. Our condolences to your family on John's passing. John and I were in quite a few science and engineering classes together at West Point. He always looked on the bright side of things and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

I'm simply devastated to hear the sad news of John's passing.  We were friends as cadets but never served together in the Army...yet every time our paths crossed over the decades he responded as if we hadn't missed a beat in all those years.  John was so positive and upbeat, it was always a joy to see him.  He will be missed.  My heartfelt condolences go out to all John's family and friends.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Sympathies to your family on the passing of  John.  I worked closely on a project for a few years with John here at JMA SOCOM, a great guy.  He will be missed.

Our hearts go out to you in this difficult time.  We remember you all fondly form the Hawaii days and I remember John well and with great friendship from the first time we met in 1976.  We had many classes and activities together and I will always remember his intelligence, wit, and humor.
