He was born at home on May 28, 1946 in Douglas, Ok to parents Florence and Delmer Scott and lived for most of his life in Tampa, Florida.
John will be remembered as a loyal, generous, caring man with a ready smile and a fun-loving spirit. He loved travel, football and basketball (GO BULLS!) and spending time with his family. He was a supportive step-father to his three step-children and a devoted, loving husband. John was active all his life in the churches he attended, helping out with financial service and volunteer roles. He especially loved Bridgeway Church in Wesley Chapel, Florida. He was active and participated in many clubs and organizations at the University of South Florida throughout his career, Metropolitan Ministries, and the Student Veterans Organization at USF. He developed the John and Leanne Scott Endowed Scholarship in Nursing at USF.
John served four years in the United States Air Force at Macdill AFB in Tampa.. He graduated from the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA with a degree in accounting and was employed by USF for 35 years upon retirement. John last served as Chief Financial Officer of the USF Foundation.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leanne Marie Scott of 45 years of Tampa, Fl., children: Trent S. Mallory and his wife, Gini of Richmond,Va.;Tracey L. Mallory and partner Mike Howser of Tampa, Fl.; Terry W.Mallory and his wife Paula of Noblesville, IN. Three nieces Rhonda Rosado and her husband Elliot of San Antonio, TX.,Donita Scott of Enid ,OK.,Cindi Moore of Tampa, FL and several nephews. Granddaughters: Courtney Mallory of Riverview FL., Madeline Bratcher of Lexington, KY., Brittany Smith of Indianapolis, IN., Cassidy Mallory of Louisville, KY. and Delaney Mallory of Noblesville, IN. Also six beautiful great grandchildren. He leaves behind many faithful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Carolyn Bebee Scott, three brothers:Donald Scott, Dean Scott, Wayne Neal Scott; two sisters Patty LeGrand and Earlene Moore.

A funeral service led by Pastor Robert Jonsson is held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home @ Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL. 33610 at 12 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment is at the Garden of Memories Cemetery adjacent to the funeral home. A reception welcomes everyone immediately following.
