John E. Jackson died on June 10, 2020 at James A. Haley Hospital at the age of 85. He was born in Albany, New York and grew up in Rotterdam, New York. In 1954, John graduated from Draper High School. He proudly served four (4) years in the U.S. Navy and sixteen (16) years thereafter in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military retirement, he earned an accounting degree and went on to work for Gold Kist Poultry for twenty (20) years.
John’s favorite past times were traveling with friends, playing golf, bowling, morning walks with his friend and neighbor Bob. In later years, he liked to spend time on his flight simulator program. His dogs were always an important part of his life.
John was Past Master of Holyrood Lodge 257 (1999), served as Secretary from 2001-2004 and 32⁰ Scottish Rite.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marlene of 60 years; son, Brian (Maria); daughter, JoEllen (Siegfried); grandsons, Trevor, Eric, Friedy and Spencer and stepbrother Richard Bond (Elinor) of Maui, Hawaii.
Military honors and a memorial service to celebrate John's life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood, located at 3207 West Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
