Joan E. Barber

Joan Elaine Barber went home to be with her Heavenly Father in peace on February 11, 2020. She was born January 4, 1946 in Tampa, Fl to Dennis and Melrose Barber. She taught elementary and Sunday school where she gave of her love, wisdom, and faith unmeasured to many children who will always remember her warm goodness and kind smile.

She was the cherished mother of Diedra Lorton (Dave Dudley) and Heather and Curtis Kilburn. She had no greater joy than her grandchildren Dylan Parker, Sarah Ciccarello, Jordan Campbell (Makeyla Bollman, Luc (Mi) and Aiden Kilburn. She is proceeded in death by her loving parents and her sister, Peggy Palmer. She is mourned by her surviving sister Sue Maples, and her brothers in law Cecil Maples and Rodney Palmer and their families. Countless dear friends, cousins, and students who knew and loved her well will never forget the lessons of love and faith that she lived daily. Always the avid lover of books she would agree, "Your last chapter is not the end of your story. Turn the page and start a new one."

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
