Jimmy Darrell Helms

Jimmy is survived by his beautiful and beloved daughter, Caitlyn Helms, and his sisters, Donna and Linda. He is preceded in death by his mother, Melissa Jane, his father, Heath Darrell, and his sister, Missy. He is also survived by his best friend and former wife, Kathy Helms, and her brothers, Jerry, Mike, Tim, and Larry.

Jimmy was born on October 12th, 1966 in Monroe, NC to Melissa Jane and Heath Darrell Helms. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Economics in 1993 and a Masters of Accountancy in 1994. Jimmy served on Active Duty in the U.S. Navy from 1984 to 1989 and in the reserves from 1991-1993. He was also a long-term employee of Kaiser Permanente. Jimmy’s favorite role in life was being a father and he was known as a kind and generous person with a big smile.

A small internment ceremony is scheduled for April 20th at Florida’s National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A small group of family and friends will attend and celebrate Jimmy’s life. In lieu of flowers, we hope to connect with you in person to share stories about Jimmy and life. Please leave a condolence on this page or a special memory of Jimmy.

The family would like to thank the Marco Carr and the Department of Veterans Affair for their care of and dedication to Jimmy and other veterans in their care. Jimmy was exceptionally grateful for the wonderful care he received and would want us to recognize their efforts. The family would also like to thank friends and family who supported and loved Jimmy over the years.
